Camping Stool
A folding camping stool, designed at NID Ahmedabad, that packs down to one-third the size of existing options.
Catering to the growing camping community, a trend driven by increasing urbanisation, I chose to address this need during the Folding Furniture module in my 3rd semester at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, under Prof. L. C. Ujawane. My interest in trekking gave me insight into campers’ needs, especially the importance of rest for amateur campers.
After analysing existing market solutions, I aimed to design a product that was genuinely innovative rather than redundant. I set a challenge to make my design fold to half the size of Decathlon’s folding stool. Pushing further, I utilised the college’s resources, including 3D printing, to create a solution that folds down to one-third the size of current options.
